Is Facebook Video Calling Set For Doom?

This early, Facebook Video Calling looks like it's set for doom. 

That's what usually happens if a hastily provided service is not carefully planned and studied as what is happening now in Facebook Video Calling. This is not what Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg promised as "something awesome". 

I believed that the timing itself of the launch of Facebook Video Calling is related to the announcement of search giant Google of its own social networking service Google+, it feels somewhat rushed and unfinished, and at this point is still not ready to go live.

Also, setting up Facebook Video Calling was a far cry from the ease of use that Facebook representatives were claiming, and this early, if you try to setup the service you will get the message "Video calling will be available soon. Please check back later."

Hopefully, the Facebook-Skype partnership will not follow suit in the way of MySpace-Skype team up. Look at what happened to MySpace, it was sold last month by owner News Corp. for a fraction of what it paid six years ago.
