Send Free Text To Globe, Smart And Sun Subscribers

Written By Marvs Correa on August 12, 2011 | 8/12/2011

Yes, you read it right! It is now possible to send text messages to Globe, Smart and Sun subscribers absolutely free! No gimmicks and no strings attached. You may be wondering how is this possible and who would offer such free SMS service? If your answer is Chikka, you guessed wrong. This service has been available for a long time now to other countries but only last month that it was made available for mobile carriers in the Philippines. This service will allow for seamless integration between mobile and PC communication and make it more convenient for Pinoys to send each other messages. Still curious on how to send free texts to your friends and relatives? Then read on...

Google has launched Gmail-to-SMS, a free service wherein you can send and receive text messages from Gmail to Globe, Smart, and Sun subscribers. With more than 70 million mobile subscribers in the Philippines and the country being the SMS capital of the world, this is great news.

Gmail users need only to send an instant message from the new SMS box in Gmail's chat window. Recipients can reply with a text message from their mobile phone (standard network charges will apply), which will appear on the sender's Gmail interface.

Enter the contact information
Go ahead, compose and send your free text!

The text messages may also be archived like chat messages.

In cases that the Send SMS panel does not show up in your Gmail window, you have to activate the feature first by going to Gmail Labs and enabling the SMS in chat feature.

Enable bothe SMS in Chat features

You are allotted to send 50 Free SMS (Free Text) daily (with 150 characters each) everytime you send text message the free sms will be reduced by 1. Every reply you receive the phone user will be charge equivalent to P2.00 which is lower by 50 cents compared to Chikka. For the details see below:

SMS Quotas in Chat
A quota is an allocation of SMS (text messages) that you’re able to send to a mobile phone:
  • Initially, you’re granted a quota of fifty messages.
  • Every time you send a message, your quota decreases by one.
  • Every time you receive an SMS message in Chat (for example when a phone user replies to one of your messages) your quota increases by five, up to a maximum of 50.
  • If your quota goes down to zero at any point, it will increase back up to one 24 hours later. So, you won’t ever be locked out of the system.

“Buying” additional messages
Keep in mind that if you’d like a higher message quota, you can always send an SMS to your own phone, and then reply to that message multiple times. Every time you send a reply message, your quota is increased by five. Effectively, you’re buying more messages by paying your phone company for these outgoing messages.
